Kaiser Permanente Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its
Snellville Medical Office

ATLANTA (November 30, 2010) – On Wednesday, December 1,  Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will celebrate the grand opening of its Snellville Medical Office, the organization’s fourth location in Gwinnett County. The addition of the new 7,500 square foot facility at 2240 Fountain Drive is part of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia’s ongoing initiative to make access to health care more convenient for its 230,000 members across metro Atlanta.

Kaiser Permanente of Georgia invested more than $2 million in interior construction, furniture, and medical and IT equipment for the Snellville Medical Office to create a unique total health environment that nurtures the mind, body and spirit in sickness and in health. “This medical office will allow us to better serve our members in and around Snellville,’” explained Peter Andruszkiewicz, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. “We look forward to continuing our legacy of providing high-quality, affordable health care to residents of these communities for many years to come.”

Staffed by physicians of The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, the Snellville Medical Office offers internal medicine, pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, radiology and lab services, as well as an on-site pharmacy. Physicians on staff include Purnima Rao, M.D. (internal medicine), Shekou Sesay, M.D. (pediatrics) and Christian Parks, M.D. (Ob/Gyn). Diane Bell, a certified nurse midwife, will also serve patients at this location.

As Georgia’s largest nonprofit health plan, Kaiser Permanente is committed to improving the health of its members and the communities it serves. In honor of the Snellville Medical Office grand opening, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia is donating $10,000 to Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc. The nonprofit organization based in Lilburn trains families to care for children with complex health issues at home. Since 2001, Dream House has served more than 1,000 medically fragile children living in Georgia.

“It is such a significant contribution at a critical time for us, we call it a miracle,” said Dream House Founder/CEO Laura Moore of the $10,000 donation. “For Kaiser Permanente to reach out to the community and provide support speaks volumes about the organization.”

The addition of the Snellville Medical Office brings the number of facilities in Kaiser Permanente of Georgia’s 28-county service area to 24. Plans are underway to open a new medical office in Newnan later this year. Within the past year, seven new Kaiser Permanente locations have opened in metro Atlanta.
